It was a stunning day but somewhat difficult conditions to photograph in. I decided to use it as an opportunity to try shooting into the light, something I’ve always struggled with. Catch of the day. I am already missing my days spent searching for the elusive otter in Morvern and Strontian. Out of eight outings, I only managed to catch a glimpse three times. This was my last day out in the area and was by far the best encounter I have had so far. It was a joy to watch this otter successfully hunt on a sunny afternoon. I am still pinching myself with this encounter. For many, Otters are a somewhat regular occurrence but for me, they have always eluded me. But after much research and some intel from the locals, I found this wonderful spot. I was surrounded by quite a few otters fishing, with some coming ashore. This is my first ever real otter encounter, it was a beautiful bright sunny day and a just an incredible all round. Just before the snow completely melted away. It’s unlikely I’ll be able to see these guys in full snow until next winter now, but it was a wonderful season and I have learnt so much about myself as a photographer.
